Georgia Fowler has long held an impeccable eye for fashion – likely sharpened by her years gracing runways for the likes of CHANEL, Miu Miu and Balmain, and from adorning the pages of iconic publications including our own pages of RUSSH.

But now, Fowler is doubling down, bringing her innate sense of style and love of timeless design to the fore as part of a collaboration with Australian swimwear label bond-eye.

The collection is comprised of seven timeless styles, crafted in five exquisite hues and using tactile materials like soft shimmer crinkles, classic lurex knit, and the exclusive tiger jacquard knit. The bespoke creations are available exclusively at bond-eye, and are handmade in Australia.

To mark the occasion, we sat down with Fowler to ask her all of our burning questions about the collaboration, her swimwear must-haves, and her design process.

Congratulations on the collection. Is this the first time you have worked on a swimwear collection? What was the process like?

Yes, this is my first swimwear collection. I wanted to create a collection that has something for everyone. I always try to ensure all of the pieces in my wardrobe are classic enough to outlive trends and give me joy for years. With this in mind, I tried to think of pieces I would like for my bond-eye by Georgia Fowler collection; a slight twist on classic shapes to give interest and excitement, but not be pinpointed to a specific time, trend or body.

What’s one feature that you always look out for in a good swimsuit?

After working on this collection, I realised how important the fabric is. The Authentic Crinkle™ fabric we used in this collection allows for comfortable stretch without the sheerness, or any linings that dig in.

The collection features five distinctive and different hues – why did you choose these particular colourways?

The collection was inspired by ethereal, natural colours that transport us to our ideal holiday destinations – think golden hues, and crystal clear waters. I love a natural palette.

When designing the styles with the bond-eye team, did you have a clear idea of the different silhouettes you wanted to ensure were part of the collection?

Yes, I had my preferred styles and also looked at popular bond-eye styles and merged the two. I feel like my collection highlights structure and more fashion-focused shape.

Do you have a favourite style or colour from the collection?

This is hard! I love them all! My favourites are the timeless Guinness One Piece – it’s perfect for nursing a newborn – and the avant-garde Fowler one piece with the cutout triangle bust and open back. I also love the Georgia Balconette and Brief.

In terms of palette, I particularly love the Sage Tiger hue in Drop 1 and Slate Blue Shimmer in Drop 2.

How do you hope people feel when they wear the pieces?

Comfortable, stylish and confident!

The bond-eye by Georgia Fowler collection collection will be available exclusively in-stores and on the bond-eye website.

Georgia Fowler, Cameron Stephens and Mileshka Cortes on their handbag essentials and styling the new RL 888 https://www.russh.com/ralph-lauren-rl-888-handbag/ Wed, 13 Sep 2023 03:30:42 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=189633 A sophisticated silhouette designed with the purpose of enhancing your personal style, here's what Fowler, Stephens and Cortes love about the new silhouette.

In partnership with Ralph Lauren

The Ralph Lauren touch needs no introduction. It’s an energy so deeply ingrained in heritage, but with a vision towards modernity. It speaks to a spirit of independence, encourages an unapologetic licence to self expression, and has the ability to honour one’s past as it continues to journey forward. Through its creations and in the brand’s sentiments, it reminds us of all that we can be, which is why it should come as no surprise that Ralph Lauren’s latest addition to its ever-growing handbag offering – the RL 888 – is a continuation of this honouring.

A sophisticated silhouette designed with the purpose of enhancing your personal style, the new collection takes its name from Ralph Lauren’s New York City flagship, 888 Madison Avenue – an immersive space where the juxtaposing worlds of the brand meet to convene and inspire. With the energy of this legacy imbued within the RL 888, models Georgia Fowler, Cameron Stephens and Mileshka Cortes have made the bag their own, embracing the silhouette’s dynamic design in a way that celebrates their individual identities.

“I love expressing myself through texture, and colour, however rather than going bright with colour, I will pick a slightly interesting neutral that still pairs back with looks I own. For instance, I love khakis, mustards, butters, which of course work with black, white and denim,” shares Fowler.

For Stephens, the sentiment is shared, telling RUSSH that she always feels put together when styling “minimalistic pieces that you can chop and change with every look. I love nothing more than a luxurious, timeless handbag that pairs perfectly with my go-to pieces, like silks and long, flowy garments.”

It’s no surprise that the RL 888 evokes this feeling of understated luxury. The bag’s silhouette features defined angles and dramatic curvature; heavily inspired by the iconic architecture and essence of New York City. The collection boasts a plethora of different stylistic offerings, from exotic fabrications to luxurious box calf leathers.

“I like to be able to express who I am with my accessories by carrying classic designs that are elegant and often in a neutral colour, that are then elevated through a different texture or the particular shine of the leather,” shares Cortes. “I definitely gravitate towards rectangular or circular shapes rather than more abstract silhouettes, because for me, less is more.”

Complete with the sleek RL logo, offered in palladium, brass or champagne finishes, the RL 888 has created a ‘signature’ piece for every wearer and blends the worlds of form and function effortlessly.

In the spirit of the RL 888, we asked Fowler, Stephens and Cortes to share their handbag essentials that they always carry, their non-negotiables when it comes to finding their new ‘it’ bag, and their favourite ways to style the new RL 888 heading into spring.

“On set, I loved that the new RL 888 was styled with casual polos, denim, and gowns and both looks were completely complimented. That’s what I love the most about Ralph Lauren, it’s never fussy, just effortlessly elegant on any occasion.” — Georgia Fowler.

LEFT: RALPH LAUREN jumper, shirt, jeans, belt and bag. RIGHT: RALPH LAUREN top, skirt, hat, belt and bag.

“What I look for in a bag will depend on the occasion, but a big factor for me is versatility. For work, castings, or meetings I always lean towards a practical and functional bag where I can organise all my things easily, but it’s great when I can turn this bag into a shoulder or crossbody bag for nights out. As for what’s inside, I always carry Aquaphor Lip Repair, earphones, my wallet, a piece of fruit (my secret touch) and of course, some floss.” — Mileshka Cortes.

“You can never go wrong with a tan or black bag, and what I love about the RL 888 is that I can add pops of colour either through my outfit or with accessories like tying my favourite scarves around the straps. It just adds that effortlessly chic look and you can’t go wrong. It’s a bag that really helps you look put together without trying and that’s what we’re trying to achieve.  Or at least I am…” — Cameron Stephens.

A last glimpse of summer with French winemakers Rameau d’Or https://www.russh.com/rameau-dor-rose-launch/ Fri, 31 Mar 2023 01:00:32 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=181336 If there was ever a consummate a way to capstone a glorious summer, it would be sailing Sydney's foreshore with a magnum of Rameau d'Or rosé.

If there was ever a consummate way to capstone the end of a glorious and poetic Australian summer, it would be aboard a luxury yacht, setting sail around Sydney’s foreshore with a bottle (or seven) of Rameau d’Or signature rosé – of course. As the bygone heat and sweat of those languid long days begins to feel just out of reach, we wanted to take a moment to reminisce and to relish in a final taste of summer, squeezing out its last juicy drops, with the help of Rameau d’Or.

The third-generation French winemakers took to the high seas of Rose Bay aboard luxury yacht Sea Raes, to celebrate the release of their new magnum-sized offering by welcoming friends of the brand to set sail, including Tamsin and Patrick Johnson, Kate and Georgia Fowler, Nathan Dalah, Montana Cox, Thomas Cocquerel, Sophie Coote, Nikki Campbell and Tamie Ingham.

Their signature rosé is a perfect vehicle for summer nostalgia, possessing a unique blend of floral notes, and laden with hints of white peach, rose petals and grapefruit. Its flavour is pale, light, lush and smooth, a perfect coalescence of striking natural acidity, while remaining refreshingly arid.

The afternoon’s soundtrack was curated by DJ Matt Saville, Julian Tobias and Daimon Downey (the former Sneaky Sound System frontman), and was evocative of the kinds of warm, late nights we are already yearning for once more. Paired considerately with a spread of Southern French classics like oysters, crudité and pissaladière, friends of the brand indulged in what Rameau d’Or call ‘the more-is-more culture’ of sharing magnums that heralds from the drop’s origin, Côtes de Provence.

Below, we’ve selected some of our favourite shots from inside the intimate gathering, from which we might consider adding to our already salacious summer mood boards for 2024.

A night at the museum: Louis Vuitton transforms The Rocks with travelling SEE LV exhibition https://www.russh.com/see-lv-sydney/ Fri, 04 Nov 2022 03:28:15 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=171689 'RUSSH' takes you along for an exclusive look inside one of Sydney's most talked about evenings.

The post A night at the museum: Louis Vuitton transforms The Rocks with travelling SEE LV exhibition appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
All eyes were on Sydney’s iconic First Fleet Park last night, where a sea of blue took over to celebrate the launch of Louis Vuitton’s highly-anticipated global travelling exhibition, SEE LV. A grandiose instalment that must be seen to believe, the House has brought its 160-year legacy of innovation, craftsmanship and imaginative design to Australian shores.

For a luxury House with roots deeply entrenched in the art of travel, it only seems fitting that the SEE LV exhibition has been gradually making its way across the world. Now in its fifth stop here in Sydney – after celebrations in Wuhan, Hangzhou, Dubai, and most recently, Tokyo – last night’s event was an explosive continuation of Louis Vuitton’s enigmatic spirit. Standing alongside some of the city’s most recognisable attractions, including the Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge and of course, the Museum of Contemporary Art, SEE LV stands as its own landmark.

The exhibition, which has been painted in the iconic blue reminiscent of Bondi Beach – (each city SEE LV has visited has been personified by its own colour) – has been built entirely from the ground up; a sentimental note to its founder’s humble beginnings as a trunk maker. Once inside, guests are invited to explore the five universes of Louis Vuitton, each space bringing together an extraordinary curation of contemporary looks and early twentieth-century trunks, artistic collaborations and iconic leather creations.

The night was not over there though, with guests being escorted to an incredible pavilion on the MCA lawn overlooking Sydney Harbour for a taste of what was to come. Pomegranate martinis were flowing as bodies swayed side-to-side to the rhythm that Soju Gang was putting down – the sweet smell of rain against the pavement outside serving as the ultimate refreshment. It wasn’t long before the clock struck nine and the crowd erupted when RÜFÜS DU SOL took to the stage for their first Australian performance in over three years. Guests including Troye Sivan, Georgia Fowler, Ruel, Lily Sullivan, Victoria Lee, Jessica De Gouw, Gabriella Brooks, Gretta Ray, Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Montana Cox and more were spotted on the dance floor.

You Were Right brought out the 18-year-old in all of us, while Innerbloom filled the air with a sense of euphoria you desperately want to bottle up and hide under your pillow. A bespoke drone show featuring 500 individual drones took over Sydney’s night sky as guests looked on in awe – the sky lighting up with the tale of Louis Vuitton’s unrivalled legacy. If this is 2022’s answer to skywriting, then you can certainly sign us up!

The final destination of the night was Louis Vuitton’s exclusive nightclub inside the MCA. Mouth-watering cheeseburgers and cones of truffle fries replaced the flutes of champagne – only momentarily of course – as guests took to the dance floor as shelter from the drizzle outside. There was only one thing to do – continuing dancing, of course. And so we did, capturing some of the night’s best moments along the way.

Here, we bring you some of our favourite memories with friends from the night.

Georgia Fowler on why everyone’s favourite ‘It’-shoe, the Jimmy Choo, is the key to her timeless winter wardrobe https://www.russh.com/jimmy-choo-georgia-fowler-autumn-22/ Fri, 26 Aug 2022 04:45:53 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=166245 "I would say accessories are the most important part of my getting dressed process."

The post Georgia Fowler on why everyone’s favourite ‘It’-shoe, the Jimmy Choo, is the key to her timeless winter wardrobe appeared first on RUSSH.

In partnership with Jimmy Choo

There are few televised fashion moments as iconic as the time when Patron Saint of good footwear, Carrie Bradshaw, lost a Jimmy Choo sandal as she was running for the Staten Island ferry yelling “Wait! I lost my Choo!” A tragic loss for Bradshaw and a moment in pop culture history that solidified Jimmy Choo as an ‘It’-shoe brand in the cultural lexicon. With a pledge of allegiance to Jimmy Choo from characters like Bradshaw to IRL fashion icons like Princess Diana, the brand had skyrocketed to international regard within less than a decade of hitting the market in the early 90s, and since then, has become a name we all know and love.

Wearing both Jimmy Choo’s Core and Autumn 22 collection, lensed by Mia Rankin, Georgia Fowler is captured for RUSSH in the iconic leather accessories.

TOM FORD top and pants from Harrolds; JIMMY CHOO shoes and bag.

How important are accessories in your getting dressed process?

I would say accessories are the most important part of my getting dressed process. I tend to buy classic pieces that I rely on to dress up or down depending on my mood. Sometimes I base my entire outfit around one or two accessories.

Go to going-out shoe?

Always something sky-high! I’m loving pops of colour or neon at the moment.

Left: ALEXANDER MCQUEEN dress from Marais Store; JIMMY CHOO shoes and bag. Right: GmbH dress from Chinatown Country Club; JIMMY CHOO shoes and bag.

Which accessories are on high rotation for you during the winter months?

In winter I live in boots, they toughen up a dress, dress up a pair of jeans and a jumper and work with coats day or night.

Talk us through how you get dressed if you have a busy day ahead?

When I’m busy (plus also having to get a baby ready) I reach for my go-tos, as they are always safe and I feel put together. They are a pair of black trousers, a ribbed singlet, and a pair of boots – in the cooler months I’ll add a blazer to finish off the look.

Glamour and grooves: A peek inside RUSSH’s annual F*ck Fashion, Let’s Dance party https://www.russh.com/fck-fashion-lets-dance-2022/ Thu, 12 May 2022 10:17:34 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=160666 Groove is in the heart, and on the F*ck Fashion, Let's Dance dance floor.

Oh what a night. With joyous reverie and wild abandon we climbed the glimmering spiral staircase to the top floor of the Shell House where we let our hair down for the annual F*ck Fashion, Let’s Dance soirée hosted at Shell House. Back again for another round of elegant debauchery slotted nicely on day 2 of Afterpay Australian Fashion Week, the light dalliance of rain only added to our convivial party spirits.

Speaking of, there were many happily consumed, where fellow close friends of RUSSH sipped on a sampling of classics including Belvedere vodka martinis – made dirty or with a twist – Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin and Grifters Pale Ale while taking in the disco lights of the Upper West Side leather-style lounge settings. For those who were feeling a little more on the tame side, Lyres non alcoholic cocktails and Heaps Normal non alcoholic beer were on offer as well a selection of Capi garden tonic, Capi lime and agave tonic, still and sparkling to ease into the evening.

This year’s party kicked off with a plush pre party Glam suite with Charlotte Tilbury, hosted at Crystalbrook Albion. Here the night was commemorated with a popping of the G.H Mumm champagne where RUSSH purist Mimi Elashiry rang in the evening with a tap tap of the bottle and a glamorous toast. Later on, guests were privy to a little Pillow Talk and pre makeup touch ups during the party.

Like a rhinestone cowboy, (and there were a few of those cowboy hats) we got our boots dug into some tight grooves, where friends including Victoria Lee, Georgia Fowler, Honor Munroe and Lucy Marcovic to name just a few, begun the evening cutting some divine shapes to the sweet delicious sounds from RUSSH’S very own Music Editor, Alys Hale. From here, the night really picked up speed when party goers were treated to the electric jive of Pricie and her deep jams, followed by a vibrant floor filler set by K-Rap band 1300 and DJ Yemi Sul.

Amidst the crushed velvet suits and feathery Gucci swag, sleeves were rolled up for some tattoos by our pal Easytatt. Many a collarbone and bicep were adorned with the RUSSH 100 logo, and other delightful kitsch combos that “mom” definitely wouldn’t approve of. Alongside the flowing New York style drinks, an always bespoke selection of wine from DRNKS was sampled outdoors amongst the roof top cabanas, where we all came together to cap off the evening with a cheeky set from Reenie. The sights of Sean Brady and Beatrys Ponzoni getting down will be sadly gone, but never forgotten.

A night for the memory book. Dancing in the rain, taking in the rooftop heights. Lips were retouched, rumps were shaken, feathers were worn.

Until next year..

A quintessential summer wardrobe by an Australian icon. Swimwear veterans Seafolly announce the launch of their Summer 2020 Collection and campaign featuring RUSSH model favourites Georgia Fowler, along with homegrown talent and our Spiritualised cover star, Charlee Fraser.

Seafolly is a brand that originated by the sea on Bondi Beach in 1975, so it was only fitting that the new campaign be shot along those exact same shores. Celebrating history and heritage, the new campaign embodies a vintage retro glamour, paired with Australia’s rich beach culture.

The Seafolly Summer 2020 uniform celebrates multi-functional silhouettes, bold colour hues, and exclusive textures with five key swimwear collections released throughout the season that can be paired back with an assortment of apparel and accessories.

The first luxurious collection Sea Dive is inspired by the 70s and features textural fabric in bold hues, high-rise pants, a one shoulder bandeau and a deep cut one-piece. A minimalist collection with new shapes designed to echo the golden era.

The second collection aptly titled Wild Ones is your next summer adventure. Featuring a timeless animal print and bold new shapes with basket weave ring detailing, Wild Ones is the perfect match for your untamed getaway.

Next in line we have Thrift Shop. This print is designed to love beyond the season, taking its inspiration from vintage florals and retro colours. The feminine styling combined with a ribbed texture, secures endless support for a confident swim all summer long.

The fourth key collection Check In showcases revitalised gingham. Fabricated from reversible European knit and featured in classic colourways from chilli red and timeless black. These are the classic and timeless styles to wear on repeat.

Last, but certainly not least, Seafolly is also proud to announce that two key collections have been printed on sustainable Repreve recycled nylon to offset the countless volume of plastic that enters our beautiful oceans each year. These include Summer Memories, a collection featuring splashes of watercolour with a nod to vintage-inspired florals and bold abstract blooms, and New Wave, a collection inspired by the movements of the ocean, featuring a modern abstract print.

An Australian name, with an Australian spirit, these are the hero items for your summer beach wardrobe. Make a splash.

You can shop the Seafolly Summer 2020 collection via Seafolly.com or in store at Seafolly boutiques.

Georgia Fowler on the future of fashion and ‘HER’, the latest from Auguste https://www.russh.com/georgia-fowler-auguste-her/ Wed, 12 Aug 2020 01:30:04 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=104331 We spoke to Georgia and asked her about her favourite pieces from HER, her approach to style and why sustainability is so important to her.

The post Georgia Fowler on the future of fashion and ‘HER’, the latest from Auguste appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
Welcome to HER, the latest collection from Australian label Auguste. Created by founder Ebony Eagles and helmed by Georgia Fowler, the collection celebrates the spirit and collective strength of Australian and New Zealand women.

We spoke to Georgia and asked about her favourite pieces from HER, her approach to style and why sustainability is so important. She explains her hopes for the future of the fashion industry and why Auguste’s sustainability initiatives like 1% For The Planet and One Tree Planted are key to a considered fashion collection.

Tell us about the new Auguste collection ‘HER’?

We photographed the collection at this incredible location in the hills of Byron Bay, it reminded me of a Spanish or Moroccan villa which complimented the collection so well. Lots of trans-seasonal, easy throw-on dresses, and some great denim basics. The designer Ebony told me it was inspired by Australian/Kiwi women’s strength and style which I think is why it resonated so much with me. All the pieces just felt like a natural extension of my summer wardrobe.

Georgia Fowler Auguste

Do you have any favourite pieces?

I loved this dress called the ‘Dusk Brea Midi’ – it was a vintage style floral print, super effortless sundress.

There was also this dark green, sleeveless dress called the ‘Dillion Lara Midi’ which I can definitely see myself wearing out this summer.

What do you love about Auguste?

Auguste feels like a true reflection of Australian style – effortless, no-fuss vintage-inspired forever pieces that are made consciously. I love that they give back through their One Tree Planted and 1% For the Planet initiatives – every element of the brand feels super considered and inclusive.

Georgia Fowler Auguste

What is your approach to style?

I’m not super driven by trends – I love classic pieces like a great white tee and jeans for day-to-day and dressing up a little more feminine in summer months with great vintage-inspired sundresses. I take a less-is-more approach to fashion – always looking for forever-pieces that will transcend seasons, rather than trends that may come and go.

Do you have any style rules that you follow?

Experiment with your style and find out what works for you! I’ve honed a bit of a signature look over the years through trial and error, figuring out what makes me feel most confident and comfortable. Usually, for me this is effortless, classic pieces with some stand out accessories like a great pair of sunglasses.

Not really a rule per se, but at the moment, I’m trying my best to support local Australian and NZ brands as much as possible. Local designers are really struggling so I think it’s super important to invest in local talent!

Georgia Fowler Auguste

Is sustainability something that’s important to you?

Absolutely! I think growing up in NZ gave me a unique appreciation for the natural world. It’s super important to be aware of the social and environmental impact of the little choices we make every day. Every little positive action counts!

What would you like to see in the future of the fashion industry?

The fashion industry accounts for nearly 10% of global carbon emissions and 20% of wastewater. It is so important the fashion industry makes a collective effort in examining and reducing the footprint our industry leaves on the planet. More-so, I would love to see a genuine change in diverse representation across all jobs and positions of power in the industry.

1/6 Georgia Fowler @georgiafowler.

She’s just like us. Raiding sample counters, skipping workouts in favour of downtime and embracing the curls she was born with. Georgia Fowler shares the beauty rituals behind that face.

My top five beauty products are …La Mer Crème de la Mer Moisturizing creamMaybelline Great Lash mascaraAnastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz pencilCharlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Face sculpt & highlightGlossier Balm Dotcom

My travel beauty routine consists of … I always visit the expensive beauty counters and ‘test’ all the serums, and the richer moisturisers and eye creams that are too heavy for everyday (and the wallet) but are perfect for the dry air in the plane. Skin Food is another amazing all natural cream, it is very thick and can be used on feet, elbows and any other very dry spots, but I love it on my face before a long haul as I feel it creates a kind of barrier locking in the moisture. The best beauty secret I’ve learnt backstage is … A good face massage with a moisturiser or oil helps to de-puff the face and eyes and increases circulation for the glowiest skin. Also don’t forget the importance of brows, they frame your face and really finish a look, brush them up with hairspray on a clean mascara wand.

My beauty icon is … Jane Birkin, Freja Beha Erichsen, Helena Christensen.

My biggest beauty indulgence is … I don’t think the best skin care is always the most expensive – it’s products with simple ingredients that are often best, like Skin Food or paw paw. However a makeup artist used the La Prairie Cellular Radiance concentrate Pure Gold (yes literally has gold flecks in it) on me before makeup, and it felt and looked incredible, so that’s on my list.

The best advice on beauty I’ve received is … Less is more, in makeup and skin care. The minute I stopped stripping my skin growing up with cleansers, toners, exfoliators, pimple lotions etc … it started improving. And the less I wash, touch and heat my hair the better it looks – start embracing your curls girls!

The best advice on health I’ve received is … Nourish your body from within, eat lots of healthy fats and drink lots of water and your energy and skin will improve noticeably. And listen to your body, sometimes ladies we just can’t work out everyday or attend that event every night, take time to relax sometimes!

The product I can’t live without is …Maybelline Great Lash mascara.

Whether you’re practicing social distancing or being kept inside due to a compulsory 14-day quarantine, keeping up our fitness routine is harder. In the time of the Coronavirus, many countries and regions have shutdown all non-essential services – and that means gyms. And for those living in a densely populated area, even heading out for a walk around the block may not be advisable.

Thankfully there are many workout routines you can do from home – the RUSSH team has already shared some of our favourites. But this next one comes courtesy of model muse Georgia Fowler. She’s shared some workout inspiration via her Instagram account today, and it’s well-worth it.

The full-body routine is perfect to keep you moving, even if you live in a small space. Packed with core work, stretches and ending with a svanasana, this is the ideal activity to lift you out of your afternoon slump.

Take a look at Georgia’s video and written steps below.
