Capricorns are the ultimate go-getters—practical, determined, and always striving for success. But there’s more to this magnetic drive and quiet strength than meets the eye. Here, resident RUSSH astrologer Jules Ferrari is decoding the captivating traits that make Capricorns both fascinating and unstoppable.

Capricorn personality traits, explained

You are made of strong substances; the Earth, Saturn and Cardinal energy. Cardinal is an energy that self-activates, it has energy that wants to be utilised and to get things happening. In Earth, it suggests that you can make things happen out in the world and with your ruler being Saturn, this energy points to self-mastery over your lifetime, utilising Saturn’s traits of structure, discipline, authority. That self-mastery is learnt through your roles out in the world, your responsibilities and duties.

As the Mountain Goat you have come here to ascend to new heights. It is important for your sign to have direction, be they yearly goals or the vision of the mountain(s) that you wish to climb and claim. It is worth assessing your visions and defining what success looks and feels like for you as an individual. It is important that what you are working towards feels true to you as this will provide far more stamina than trying to master another person’s idea of success.

Your ruler, Saturn, represents authority. As children, our authority is naturally outsourced to our care givers and teachers and it is as adults (especially through the initiation of our Saturn Return) that we must re-assess our relationship to authority and pull it back into ourselves, embodying ourselves. Comb through your desires and ambitions and ways of doing and being and observe if they are natural to you or conditioned. This process and application aligns you even more with your own integrity. And as Patti Smith said (a fellow Capricorn), ‘be concerned with doing good work and make the right choices and protect your work. And if you build a good name, eventually, that name will be its own currency.’

Maturity is a trait often applied to your sign and part of this is due to your ruler being the lord of time, meaning that, for you, you have a natural eye on the long game, you can see the Mountains that may take years to climb, that other people cannot see, and this is part of your gold. You have come here to contribute to the world, part of you is geared to go beyond the personal and into your roles in society. This is why Capricorns can seem to skip childhood and go straight into adult responsibility. Your roles are your mountains. They tether you to life and bring a sense of purpose and direction. Your roles bring you your flow.

HEALING BALM

Cancer, your opposing sign, is a nourishing and revitalising bath for your archetype. While Capricorn is your concrete roles and ambitions out in the world, Cancer energy represents your inner world, your inner sanctuary that you can retreat into and be rejuvenated by. It is self-love and nurturance; it is the processes that fill up your cup so that when the day is new you can go out into the world and be fuelled for your mission, balanced with your personal world.

Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ trailer is even better than we anticipated https://www.russh.com/zendaya-tom-holland-christopher-nolan-film/ Mon, 22 Dec 2025 21:00:44 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=233549 We’re kicking our feet at Tom Holland...

Christopher Nolan’s next project, The Odyssey, is more than well underway, and now, not only do we have first-look images and some insight from lead actor Tom Holland on the film, we also officially have a trailer. Filming for the project (which was shot entirely on Imax cameras) has reportedly taken officially wrapped across Morocco, Iceland, Greece, Sicily, and Scotland, with Holland telling GQ Sports that it was “the job of a lifetime, no doubt.”

He went into detail on the star-studded set itself, saying it was “The best experience I’ve had on a film set. Incredible. It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen.”

Of course, he also had glowing reviews for director Nolan and producer Emma Scott, saying “Working with Chris, getting to know him and Emma was absolutely fantastic. I’ve never seen someone that can work the way that they do, and there is a reason why they’re the best in the business for sure,” Holland continued. “To get a front row seat to that and to be a part of the process and to collaborate with a true master of his craft and learn from him was the best experience I’ve ever had.”

If Holland’s endorsement has got you as excited for the upcoming project as us, you’re in luck. Keep reading for everything we know about The Odyssey so far, below.

Who else is Christopher Nolan’s new movie?

The first actors to be cast in the project were Tom Holland and Matt Damon. Appearing on Good Morning America in October, Holland said of the news, “I’m incredibly excited. And, obviously, honoured, but that’s all I can say because, to be honest, that’s all I know.” As for Damon, it’s his third time collaborating with the director, having also starred in Interstellar and, more recently, Oppenheimer.

Three powerful women were next to join: Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Anne Hathaway. Zendaya and Hathaway have previously shared the screen for a Bulgari campaign, but have yet to work together on a significant project of this kind. Hathaway, however, has experience working with Nolan, who famously cast her in Interstellar, shortly after she faced significant backlash for Les Miserables

“I had an angel in Christopher Nolan, who did not care about that and gave me one of the most beautiful roles I’ve had in one of the best films that I’ve been a part of… And my career did not lose momentum the way it could have if he hadn’t backed me,” the actress said at the time.

Next to join the ensemble was Robert Pattinson, who has previously worked with Nolan on Tenet. The actor has been booked and busy recently, with a sequel to The Batman in the works, plus a starring role in A24’s Primetime, and The Drama. Benny Safdie later rounded out the ensemble.

What is Christopher Nolan’s new film about?

According to Universal, The Oddyssey is an adaptation of the Greek epic poem written by Homer.

“Christopher Nolan’s next film The Odyssey is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new Imax film technology,” the studio said at the time. “The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to Imax film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026,” the production company said in a statement.

As for exactly what this will entail, the details are still tightly under wraps.

When does Christopher Nolan’s next movie come out?

At this stage, the film is slated for release on July 17, 2026.

The ultimate gift guide for the savvy Capricorn in your life https://www.russh.com/capricorn-gift-guide/ Mon, 22 Dec 2025 03:00:23 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=148708 To be fair, the goats of the zodiac have it mostly all figured out on their own. But we still have some tricks up our sleeve.

Well, it’s true what they say about Capricorns, they’ll make you work for it. So you better be prepared when it comes to narrowing down a birthday gift for them, they aren’t too easily pleased. To be fair, the sea-goats (yes, sea-goats) of the zodiac have it mostly all figured out on their own. Practical, determined, and quietly ambitious, there’s no doubt that this earth sign knows what they want, and isn’t afraid to go after it. But we still have some tricks up our sleeve when it comes to putting together the perfect gift for them.

The certified task masters of the zodiac are savvy when it comes to their style, the Capricorn in your life is always looking for a way to make their life a little less taxing. They aren’t exactly looking for trinkets and collectibles to add to their repertoire – they are all about the practical and tangible sentiments; items that can add value to their life. But they’re not all work, and enjoy a bit of play – so gifts they can unwind with, relax with and kick up their heels with are a great option too.

They’re not caught up in the trends, and probably won’t be especially nostalgic or sentimental – they’re rooted pretty firmly in the here and now. They’d probably prefer the classics over something found in a TikTok trend, and as earth signs, they’re pretty grounded in material objects. So whether you’re looking to give them a gift that takes their career or hobby to new heights, or that will help them get some much needed rest and relaxation time in, we thought it best to compile the ultimate Capricorn gift guide if you’re stuck for inspiration.

8 delicious pasta recipes you’ll want to make all summer long https://www.russh.com/summer-pasta-recipes/ Mon, 22 Dec 2025 02:30:39 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=143320 Pasta for every dietary, occasion and mood.

The post 8 delicious pasta recipes you’ll want to make all summer long appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
Pasta is a dish we can eat all year round. Frankly, we can barely imagine going more than a week without eating some variation of, what I believe to be, the best carbohydrates to exist. But as the seasons change, so does the produce and so do our taste buds. While in winter we might crave more steadying variations on pasta, in summer, nothing beats a quick, light and glossy sauce – it is tomato season after all. The base is up to you, as for the rest? Leave it to us. There’s plenty of summer pasta recipes on offer, and I’m here to share my favourites with you.

By the way, this doesn’t mean I’m moving into pasta salad territory (I would never, by the way, with one exception). I am simply sharing the recipes that have the magical ability to instantly transport me to an Italian coastline – something we can all get amongst, surely. From seafood masterpieces to those tossed with summer vegetables, here are seven of the best pasta recipes you’ll want to make all summer long.

Julia Busuttil’s summer seafood pasta

A post shared by Julia Busuttil Nishimura (@juliaostro)

Our ears prick up whenever Julia Busuttil’s name enters the conversation. The home cook-turned-recipe-connoisseur is incapable of creating something that’s not delicious, and this marriage of seafood and spaghetti is no exception. Double yum.

Pasta Alla Norma

A post shared by Xanthe Ross (@xanthemross)

Take advantage of the abundance of in-season tomatoes and eggplants and whip up Xanthe Gladstone’s take on a classic. It’s a simple sauce, and the longest cooking is reserved for the eggplants which need a moment in the over to get golden. Serve it for Sunday lunch with buffalo mozzarella and something chilled.

Pasta Salad with Peas and Parmesan

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Alison Roman (@alisoneroman)

Regardless of what you think of Alison Roman’s cooking, this is the only pasta salad that matters. It makes use of peas, which are in season during summer, and the 1-inch hunk of parmesan on its last legs in your fridge. Serve it as a side, make it the main focus of the meal. Your choice.

Jess Nguyen’s Prawn Linguine

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by JESSICA NGUYEN- COOK & CREATIVE (@jessica_nguyen_)

We are officially in prawn season (although its reaches roaring heights around Christmas time) and while there’s plenty to be said about eating them fresh with your choice of dipping sauce or garnish, arguably one of the best ways to enjoy prawns is in pasta. I love the bisque-like richness of seafood and tomato, and this recipe by Jess Nguyen definitely does the trick. Go on, then.

Carter Were’s Simple Sardine Pasta

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Carter’s Cooking (@werebros)

It’s all in the prep with this summer pasta recipe from Carter Were. Packed with five different kinds of herbs, this dish comes together with little effort, but thanks to the presence of tinned sardines, has an umami kick to keep you satisfied.

Spaghetti Alla Nerano

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Sian Redgrave (@sian_redgrave)

If you joined Stanley Tucci for his food tour through Italy, you’ll remember the actor’s favourite dish eaten in Sorrento. This recipe riffs on that meal, and will restore your appreciation in the humble zucchini, of which there’s plenty to be found in summer.

Danielle Campbell’s Spicy Spaghetti Alla Puttanesca

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Bed Threads.® (@bed.threads)

If you love a tomato sauce that leans a little on the lighter side, but still packs a salty punch, this Puttanesca is worth a try. Loaded with olives, capers, anchovies, and parsley, this Italian classic is as easy to whip up as it is delicious.

Broccolini pesto pasta

A post shared by Jem Lester (@goodfoodthings_)

If you’re craving pasta, but also in need of a vegetable, look no further. Jem Lester has cooked up the most delicious broccoli pesto, served with chunks of freshly-torn mozzarella. What’s not to love?

A case for adding more green tea into your wellness routine https://www.russh.com/green-tea-health-benefits/ Mon, 22 Dec 2025 01:00:54 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=131590 To soothe mind, body and soul.

The post A case for adding more green tea into your wellness routine appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
When we talk about ‘wellness’, we think about things that nourish the mind, body and soul – things like gua sha and turmeric. One other product that certainly fits the bill is green tea. This simple leaf is one that comes with history, ancient ritual and also amazing restorative properties.

Green tea has been used as a staple for health in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years thanks to its high levels of antioxidants and its ability to increase qi (the flow of vital energy) in the body. To find out more about the health benefits, the mental effects and history of green tea, we spoke to Tara Lang, Wellness and Health Specialist for X50 Lifestyle. Here, she explains why green tea is more beneficial than other forms of tea and its roots and importance in Chinese Medicine.

What is green tea? How does it differ from other types of tea?

Green tea, surprisingly, like any other tea, comes from the Camellia sinensis plant. Ultimately, the variety of the tea plant and how the tea leaves are processed determines what makes tea “green”. Green tea leaves are harvested and heated— pan fried or steamed—then dried to prevent oxidation. Green tea is considered to have originated in China and possesses significant cultural, medicinal, and spiritual meaning.

Green tea is said to be beneficial for physical health. Why is that?

The many types of green tea offer different benefits. One type of green tea, pu erh cha can is used to reduce cholesterol while oolong cha might be used to help regulate blood pressure. Green tea’s claim to fame though is its high level of polyphenols (antioxidants). We know antioxidants, that protect against oxidation/degradation, to be powerful allies for all things health and beauty.

While modern studies absolutely support health claims including reduced inflammation, brain function, and even cancer-fighting effects, TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) has lauded green tea’s benefits for centuries. In TCM, raw green tea is cooling. The processing of green tea however converts this cooling property into a neutral or warming property. The darker the tea, the more warmth it offers – warmth generally means stimulated circulation, digestion, and so on.

How does this compare to other forms of tea, let’s say black tea?

Though originating from the same species, the processing of the leaves is what sets green and black tea apart. To produce green tea, freshly harvested leaves are immediately steamed to prevent fermentation. The longer the fermentation, the darker the tea. Generally black tea contains lower levels of polyphenols (the good stuff). Green tea also contains less caffeine.

What sorts of benefits might we experience from drinking green tea?

TCM has lauded green tea as a preventative measure against disease for more than 2000 years. Green tea’s potent compounds offer protective antioxidant benefits that range from clearing out heavy foods and toxins and increasing energy and longevity (associated with increased qi in TCM).

Studies have shown green tea to contain active compounds including theanine (calming effect), tryptophan (associated with sleep), lysine (anti-viral), and minerals and trace elements like calcium, magnesium, chromium, manganese, iron, copper, zinc, selenium, sodium, phosphorus, potassium and others. These compounds play crucial and synergistic roles in cellular function – in layman’s terms: overall health and function of cells which determines well-being and beauty.

How much do we need to drink to reap the rewards?

That depends on the person’s tolerance for caffeine, in my opinion. Some say three to five cups per day. But you might want to stick with two if you’re sensitive. “Too much of a good thing” applies in the instance of green tea as well.

Can these benefits extend beyond the physical? Are there mental health benefits to drinking green tea too?

Monks often drink green tea before meditating; it’s said to calm the spirit. Due to green tea’s L-theanine compounds, this makes plenty of sense. L-theanine plays a role in calming anxiety and the production of grounding alpha waves in the brain. It can also increase dopamine and benefit aspects of brain function, including mood. In terms of broader mental health – think clarity, focus, and long term brain health without some of the negative side effects (dehydration, jitters) of coffee.

Can green tea aid the body in weight management?

Studies do point to the tea leaf’s impact on obesity and diabetes. To keep it simple, yes, the consumption of green tea may help reduce body weight, mainly body fat. In terms of weight management, incorporating iced green tea into your diet to replace juices, soft drinks (or whatever your vice is), not only gives you a kick of antioxidants and the benefits associated, but also reduces your calorie intake. My recommendation is the X50 Fresh Tea, which is a powdered green tea with added deep-sea Marine Collagen for skin, hair and nails and Chaga and Lion’s Mane Mushrooms to help improve gut microbiota, boosts beneficial bacteria, digestion and absorption of nutrients. Just add cold water and you’re good to go.

Are there any misconceptions around green tea?

Perhaps that most notable misconception is that green tea is “different” to other teas. It’s quite fascinating that green tea’s origins are the same as any other tea. I admire how culturally significant green tea is in Chinese and Japanese culture. The ritual around green tea has tremendous meaning. I might read up on that, if rituals have a place in your daily practice.

I would also suggest buying the best quality tea you can find – stay clear of your average tea bag from the supermarket. Green tea is like wine – the complexities around the processing and care of the tea leaves makes for very different drinking experiences. The more care you take in sourcing, the more appreciation you have, and likely the more benefits you’ll reap. Look for brands valuing sustainable, natural, and traditional practices like X50 who formulate with naturopaths, are all natural and don’t use preservatives, synthetic sugars and ‘filler’ ingredients.

A moment please, for Brendan Fraser and his on-screen mastery https://www.russh.com/brendan-fraser-best-movies/ Sun, 21 Dec 2025 23:00:38 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=136941 Here, we share 10 of our favourite film moments where Fraser really outdid himself.

The post A moment please, for Brendan Fraser and his on-screen mastery appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
As a new wave of hot, unproblematic heartthrobs enter the zeitgeist – Harry and Timothée we’re looking at you – we’ll admit that it’s been some time since we thought about the stars who got us through the 90s and early 2000s. It’s unfair, we know. So, when Brendan Fraser won Best Actor for The Whale at the 2023 Oscars, we thought it was time to shine light on some of his most memorable films to date.

In the spirit of throwing it back, we took a trip down memory lane to be reminded of some of Fraser’s best movies. And boy, it did not disappoint. From mummy-fighting explorer, to high school football star and everything in between, we present to you the 10 best movies where Brendan Fraser stole the show. In no particular order, of course.

1. The Mummy (1999)

Seeing The Mummy on the list of Fraser’s best movies is no surprise. This man carried the storyline over three whole films, and that alone deserves praise. The one we are focussing on, of course, is the first film. Based loosely on the 1932 feature of the same name, this action-horror follows explorer Rick O’Connell (Fraser), Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan (Rachel Weisz), and Evelyn’s brother Jonathan (John Hannah), on their search for treasure. In the process, they very inconveniently wake up a revenge-fuelled mummified priest, which throws a spanner in the works. Even if you hate mummy’s, Fraser’s charisma and charm will get you through.

2. Airheads (1994)

Is Airheads the definition of chaos? Yes. Is it also one of Fraser’s most iconic films for exactly that reason? Also yes. The 1994 film is almost so comical, it feels perfectly placed as a potential SNL skit. Starring Fraser, Adam Sandler and Steve Buscemi, the trio portray a no-hope band with hopes of making it big. When their plans of stardom don’t come to fruition, they go to extreme lengths to have their music heard; ultimately finding themselves as wanted criminals for masterminding a hostage situation. So bad it’s good – and who doesn’t love seeing Fraser with longer locks?

3. Blast From The Past (1999)

Like we already mentioned, Fraser can do it all. You want 90s rom-com? He’s got you. Blast From The Past with Alicia Silverstone always hits the spot. After living in a bunker with his parents all his life, with no knowledge of the outside world, Fraser’s character Adam, emerges 35 years later. Completely underrated and sees Fraser at his goofiest. We love to see it.

4. Crash (2004)

There’s a reason why Crash took out Best Picture at the 78th Academy Awards, and Fraser is one of those reasons. The film follows a series of people living in Los Angeles – an attorney and his wife, a set of detectives in a relationship, a wealthy couple, a store owner, and a police officer. Fraser plays a slightly-racist Los Angeles District Attorney, Rick Cabot; and Sandra Bullock plays his wife (a majorly racist white woman). Necessary watching, always.

5. Gods And Monsters (1998)

Ian McKellen and Fraser form an unlikely pair in the 1998 drama, Gods And Monsters. The period film is based on the later days of director James Whale’s (McKellen) life. The director was known for bringing Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein to the screen, but his life otherwise was filled with depression and health complications. In the process, he befriends his gardener Clayton Boone (Fraser), but the duo find themselves at a crossroads with different ideas of where they see their friendship going.

6. School Ties (1992)

Even though not everyone was on board with School Ties, it is undoubtedly one of the best Brendan Fraser movies in my book. We see a young Fraser, playing David Greene – a high school football star who is the talk of the town until his preppy, wealthy friends uncover his ‘real’ identity. Fraser’s character struggles with his cultural identity in the face of anti-Semitism and prejudice from the people he once considered his friends. Starring alongside Matt Damon and several other big names, School Ties is certainly worth talking about.

7. The Quiet American (2002)

Murder, mystery, a love triangle and Brendan Fraser – can it get any better than that? Michael Caine also stars in The Quiet American, so I guess it can. Based on Graham Greene’s novel of the same name, the film focuses on an English journalist (Caine) and a young American (Fraser), who find themselves falling for the same Vietnamese woman. Set against the backdrop of the French Indochina War in Vietnam, this film ticks all the boxes.

8. The Air I Breathe (2007)

In the shadow of some of his other films, The Air I Breathe doesn’t get nearly as much attention. The film is based on a Chinese proverb about life being broken into four emotions – happiness, pleasure, sorrow, and love. The crime drama follows a set of different characters who each represent the four emotions. Fraser, portrays Pleasure, a character who is able to foresee the futures of those around him.

9. With Honors (1994)

Even though we love seeing Fraser take on more serious roles, comedy does suit the man well. With Honors follows the story of a graduate student whose thesis ends up in the possession of a homeless man – played by Joe Pesci. What initially begins as a means to having his thesis returned in one piece, the unlikely pair slowly form a bond that teaches them both a lot about life on the other side. Yes, it’s riddled with clichés, but that’s exactly why we love it.

10. Still Breathing (1997)

Rounding out the list is Still Breathing. The film follows a con artist (Joanna Going) and a puppeteer (Fraser) who end up meeting together in California after being linked by a similar dream. Sure, it wasn’t a conventional blockbuster, but it paints Fraser in his best light – charming, romantic and hot. Yes, we said it.

11. The Whale (2022)

An obese and reclusive English teacher tries to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter for one last chance at redemption. Based on a play, this Darren Aronofsky film certainly brings this adaptation to new horizons.

January opens with a grounded openness. This is a month shaped by earth and air – the elements of structure and thought, grounding and clarity, form and idea. Earth asks us to stabilise; to take stock of what is real, sustainable, and worth building. It pulls attention toward foundations – e.g. work, our bodies, commitments, and the systems that hold our lives together. Air, on the other hand, brings perspective. It clears mental clutter, sharpens language, and encourages dialogue.

The first week opens with an emotional Full Moon in Cancer on 3 January, inviting us to feel our way into the new year rather than rush ahead of ourselves. Ideas circulate more freely, plans take shape, and conversations become catalytic. Aquarius season begins on 20 January, and so this is a month for laying intelligent foundations whilst paying attention to your intuition.

Pop these dates in your diary:

3 January: Full Moon in Cancer19 January: New Moon in Capricorn20 January: Aquarius season begins27 January: Neptune moves into Aries

Aries

It’s a new era for you, and Neptune, the planet of spirituality, moves into your sign for the next few decades. This month sharpens your focus on two key arenas – work and your network. Momentum is building, but before you surge ahead, there’s a necessary recalibration underway. Think of this as the strategic pause that refines your edge. You’re being asked to assess what’s truly worth your effort, where your energy delivers the greatest return, and which ambitions are ready to move from concept to execution.

Professional growth is very much on the horizon, especially with the New Moon on 19 January offering up some fresh ideas. But it won’t come from scattering yourself thin. Precision is your power now. Tighten your goals, streamline your systems, and commit to the structures that can actually support expansion.

Taurus

Travel and work are closely intertwined for you this month, occupying both your thoughts and your forward planning. The Full Moon on 3 January will be a beacon to help you figure out what you desire. There’s a sense that movement – whether literal or conceptual – is tied to your long-term direction. You may be considering a change of scenery to gain perspective, exploring opportunities that extend beyond your usual environment, or imagining how your work could exist on a broader stage.

Gemini

Your axis of intimacy and money is being lit up, bringing two deeply intertwined themes into focus at the same time: what you share and what you value. This isn’t just about resources or relationships in isolation, but about the exchange between them where trust, vulnerability, power, and worth intersect. On an intimate level, the New Moon on 19 January will be a cosmic period of heightened awareness around emotional closeness. You may find yourself questioning where you are truly invested, and whether those bonds feel mutual, safe, and sustainable.

Cancer

A Full Moon in your sign on 3 January brings you back to yourself. It highlights your needs, your boundaries, and the ways you’ve been showing up for others, sometimes at the expense of your own inner truth. This is an opportunity to reclaim space and to see yourself clearly. What you feel now deserves to be taken seriously. Set an intention on the New Moon on 19 January as your relationship zone is getting a reset. What do you want more – or less – of in your intimate realm?

Leo

Your month isn’t going to be quiet. Social invitations are likely to arrive from every direction, filling your calendar faster than you might expect. There’s a sense of movement and connection in the air, where conversations lead to gatherings and new introductions. Some interactions may feel light and celebratory, others surprisingly meaningful. Pay attention to which spaces energise you and which simply drain your time. Discernment becomes as important as presence.

Virgo

You’ll be experiencing a lot of change in terms of your work and routines. While it may feel disruptive at first, it’s ultimately recalibrating how you move through your days. The structures you’ve relied on are being adjusted to reveal where your time and energy can be used more effectively. This can look like shifts in responsibilities, schedules, or the way your work is organised. What once felt automatic may now ask for conscious engagement.

Libra

Neptune moves into Aries on 27 January. Last spring and summer, you caught an early glimpse of how this influence begins to reshape your relationship world. That period offered a preview – subtle, confusing at times, but revealing of a new relational chapter that’s less about fantasy and more about initiation. This influence dissolves old expectations around partnership. In their place comes a different question: Who do I become when I meet another honestly, without disappearing or over-accommodating?

Scorpio

Home and belonging are opening in unexpected ways, bringing with them new doors and new faces. This is a period where your sense of where – and with whom – you belong begins to evolve beyond what has been familiar. You may find yourself entering new spaces, whether physical or emotional, that immediately feel resonant. These new faces aren’t random; they reflect parts of you that are ready to be lived, expressed, or nurtured.

Sagittarius

A new financial start is underway, marked by a renewed sense of agency around money, value, and self-worth. There’s an opportunity here to reset the tone – to move away from quiet compromises and toward clarity, structure, and intention. Alongside the potential for material growth, you’re finding your voice. Conversations around pay, pricing, or budgeting can now be approached with confidence rather than hesitation.

Capricorn

A relationship confessional may reach your door on the Full Moon on 3 January, carrying an emotional honesty that’s been building beneath the surface. Yet, to have a New Moon in your sign on 19 January carries a rare sense of alignment. This is the kind of timing that quietly affirms you’re stepping into the year on your own terms. It is a clean slate that is deeply personal – an internal permission to begin again and set intentions that reflect your current self.

Aquarius

What does your ideal working environment look like? This question, prompted by the Full Moon on 3 January, invites you to go beyond productivity and into alignment. Plus, between 23 January and the end of the month, the energy gathers strongly around your sign. When so much emphasis moves through your home terrain, the focus naturally turns inward and outward at the same time. You’re reassessing who you are becoming and what role you want to play in the wider world.

Pisces

Do you want softness or excitement, devotion or exploration, depth or lightness? With the Full Moon on 3 January, the beginning of the year is about choosing the emotional and creative climate you want to swim in. Romantically, this asks you to reflect on the quality of connection you’re calling in. When you know what you’re available for, the right dynamics find you more easily.

We’re officially in the final days of the year. Laptops close, automatic replies are turned on – all that lies ahead is a slow summer and plenty of time with loved ones. December also presents a much needed opportunity for R&R (the end of year party season hits different). Think bathing rituals, masks, uplifting scents, sun protection and easy makeup that makes those beach turned lunch turned dinner plans a breeze.

Whether you’re looking to reset, buy yourself a late holiday gift to self or update your vanity for the new year, here are our RUSSH beauty favourites for December 2025. Enjoy what’s left of your 2025.

Emma Lewisham Sunceutical SPF 50+ Mineral Face Cream

This is not new per se, but the hero of any summer beauty routine: an ultra glowy SPF with added skincare benefits. It’s all you need, really.

Tom Ford Oud Voyager

A perfume that’s perfect for party season, Oud Voyager is bursting with rare red peony, oud and geranium.

There’s a big difference between December and January Capricorns — here’s why https://www.russh.com/december-capricorn-vs-january-capricorn/ Sun, 21 Dec 2025 03:00:49 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=238261 Which month do you fall into?

The post There’s a big difference between December and January Capricorns — here’s why appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
As any astrology buff will tell you, the month you were born in plays a crucial role in determining your personality traits. For those who fall under the star sign Capricorn — that is, anyone born between December 22 and January 19 — this logic tells us you’re the most hardworking, practical, and fiercely ambitious of the zodiac bunch. However, as with any star sign that straddles two calendar months, there can be significant differences to those Capricorns born in December, and those born in January. Allow us to explain.

How (and why) do December and January Capricorns differ?

The concept of zodiac decans is one way to explain why those who born under the same sun sign might differ significantly. This logic denotes that the zodiac wheel comprises 360 degrees, where each of the 12 zodiac signs takes up 30 degrees on this wheel. Within the zodiac signs, there are three segments – commonly known as decans – which are made up of 10 degrees each. One degree is equivalent to one day. So, the first 10 days or degrees of a sign make up the first decan, and so on.

Following this line of thought, most December Capricorns will belong to the sign’s first decan, while those born in January will likely fall into the second or third.

Personality traits of a December Capricorn, explained

Those born in December are the first of the Capricorn season, and as such, they tend to embody the more classic qualities of the sign. Those classic traits of practicality, discipline, and goal-orientation come to mind here. Put simply, December Capricorns know exactly what they want and are willing to work tirelessly to get it. They are pragmatic and grounded, often preferring stability and structure in their personal and professional lives.

This is, in large part, because December Capricorns (or first decan Capricorns) are ruled exclusively by Saturn, which is the planet of rules and responsibilities.

Personality of a January Capricorn, explained

January Capricorns, born towards the end of the sign, are marked by a more philosophical energy. While they share many core traits with December Capricorns, they often have a deeper sense of purpose and a focus on the long term. These Capricorns are less concerned with immediate success and more focused on creating a legacy or achieving lasting impact. The zodiac embodiment of the saying, ‘short term pain, long term gain.’

January Capricorns may also tend to be more outgoing than December Capricorns, because they are co-ruled by either Venus, the planet of relationships, or Mercury, the planet of communication. The addition of these co-ruling planets can mean that January Capricorns are more laid back than their December counterparts. While they’re still definitely driven by structure, they can be less stringently focused on success – at least a little.

Five authors like Nora Ephron to read if you’re a hopeless romantic https://www.russh.com/authors-like-nora-ephron/ Sun, 21 Dec 2025 01:00:00 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=242627 If, like us, you've already devoured Ephron's catalogue and are hungry for more, we've got you covered.

The post Five authors like Nora Ephron to read if you’re a hopeless romantic appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
Few authors have had quite the same cultural impact as Nora Ephron. Her unique ability to blend humour with poignant observations on love, life, and the human experience has been capturing the hearts of her loyal fans for decades.

While we’ll never get tired of re-watching her films — from Sleepless in Seattle to When Harry Met Sally — which irrevocably changed the rom-com genre, we’d argue that the best way to experience Ephron’s genius is through her written work. Whether she’s pondering ageing with cutting-edge wit in I Feel Bad About My Neck, or self-deprecatingly recounting a breakup in Heartburn, Ephron’s unique ability to make us laugh, cry, and really feel is largely unmatched.

If, like us, you’ve already devoured Ephron’s catalogue and are hungry for more, we’ve got you covered. Below, we’re rounding up five authors like Nora Ephron that are worth reading next.

Dolly Alderton

dolly alderton books

If Nora Ephron was a millenial, she would be Dolly Alderton. The British author and columnist has mastered the art of capturing the confusion of your twenties and thirties — with a heavy emphasis on love and heartbreak. Her collection, while short, is worth looking into if you’re a fan of Ephron, from Everything I Know About Love to Good Material.

Deborah Levy

It’s true that Deborah Levy’s work veers a little more into introspective and often darker territory, but she does share Ephron’s ability to summarise deep emotional insights with sharp, engaging writing. In Hot Milk, she explores the often strange and confusing nature of womanhood, while in Swimming Home, she takes aim at the insidiousness of depression.

Helen Fielding

Helen Fielding books

If you ask us, Helen Fielding is somewhat of a British version of Nora Ephron. The brains behind Bridget Jones, Fielding is, like Ephron, adept at exposing all the chaotic, messy parts of being a woman, without every losing her sense of humour. If self-depcreation is your brand of comedy, look no further.

Sally Rooney

Known for her sharply drawn characters and exploration of relationships, Sally Rooney shares more than a few similarities with Ephron. Her novels, from Normal People to the newer Intermezzo, delve into the complexities of friendships, love, and the quiet moments that define us. Rooney’s writing, like Ephron’s, is intimate and unflinching in its exploration of modern relationships, though her tone tends to be more understated and emotionally layered.

Marian Keyes

Marian Keyes books

For writing that expertly balances humour with emotion, Marian Keyes is another author to consider. Her books, including Watermelon and Rachel’s Holiday, typically revolve around complex characters navigating personal struggles like addiction, family dynamics, and love. Her comedic touch, along with her ability to tackle serious issues with sensitivity, makes her a beloved author in the vein of both Ephron.
