If 2025 was the era you finally decided to enter your hosting era, this one’s for you. Here at RUSSH, we’ve long championed the art of the dinner party. It’s more than just the food you serve, but those little touches — well-burnt candles, that tried-and-tested playlist — that create a feeling that lingers long after your guests have left. Whether it’s an impromptu dinner for your nearest and dearest, or an elaborate gathering with a long guest list, more and more, we’re choosing to entertain at home rather than compete for the perfect table at a busy restaurant.

In a world that often moves too fast, dinner parties offer a slower, more intentional means to socialising. It’s a way to be present and reconnect with friends, and to find joy in the tactile rituals of lighting a candle, choosing a playlist, or perfecting that tiramisu recipe. There’s also no need for a special occasion to throw a great dinner party. Sometimes, the most memorable nights are born from a midweek craving for connection, and a simple pasta whipped up at a moments notice.

But, on those occasions where you do want to go the extra mile for your guests, it pays to be prepared. From soft linens and sculptural serveware, to a few curated pieces (candles, napkins, perhaps a water jug) that elevate your table without overwhelming, the right essentials can turn even the simplest get-together into something special. These are the pieces that do the groundwork, inviting people to settle in, and making the experience feel considered without trying too hard.

Whether you’re an experienced host looking to level up your at-home entertaining essentials, or are dipping your toes into entertaining at home, and looking for a few pieces to get you started, we’ve got you covered. Below, peruse the best at-home entertaining essentials, as loved by the RUSSH team.

I don’t know if I’ve ever bought a beach towel, yet I’m in possession of a considerable stack. They seem to be the kind of essential that’s accumulated through Christmas gifts and birthday presents. However, if I was to go shopping for the perfect towel, it would be long enough and wide enough to for a friend and I to splay out on. It would dry quickly but still feel weighty. Most importantly, it would be selected from the following 10 brands. Tried-and-tested, these labels create the best beach towels, built to be loved and thrashed for years to come. From Baina to Hommey, find our favourites below.

What type of towel is best for the beach?

Ultimately, this can be chalked up to preference, but there are a few schools of thought on what makes the best beach towel. Unless you want to be carting around a heavy, soggy towel – which, if you’re catching public transport is an absolute punish – most people prefer a lightweight towel for the beach. For this reason, it’s important to pay attention to material. Turkish cotton offers the thinnest profile, however they can be plush too if that’s more your speed. They’re also absorbent but fast-drying, which is essential.

You can also try a polyester microfibre towel, which work particularly well for their compact, lightweight form. However, these are a little less luxurious, and are mostly used by people for working out, camping or any form of rigorous exercise as you don’t need to be precious with them.

The best beach towels are robust, colour-fast, can withstand sand and salt water, and spacious so you can stretch out comfortably.

What is the difference between a beach towel and bath towel?

As a rule of thumb beach towels tend to be larger by around 30cms and are built to be more resilient to the elements.

Given that bath towels are not expected to come into contact with things like sand, they tend to be more sumptuous, thick and available in lighter colours. They’re also more absorbent. On the other hand, beach towels come in bright, patterned colourways, to blend in with your (hopefully) sunny disposition, but also so you can spot it in a crowd or from the water.

‘RUSSH’s’ Editor-in-Chief Jess Blanch on her curated Australian interiors picks https://www.russh.com/russhs-editor-in-chief-jess-blanch-on-her-curated-australian-interiors-picks/ Mon, 08 Dec 2025 02:30:56 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=272663 Some of the most coveted interiors pieces currently on her wish list.

In typical Capricorn fashion (we are known as the oldest of the astrological signs) I am a lover and collector of items from the past. I like to keep things forever and expect them to last for longer. Artefacts that in the eyes of others have seen better days, can make a home with me. From time to time though I do covet the new and the fresh and these are the pieces by modern Australian design brands that make the wish list.

The Alma by Armadillo

Crafted from a cut Persian knot using a silk and wool blend, nothing feels more luxurious than this ultra-low pile rug. Each piece is one of a kind and develops its own patina thanks to an oxidation process creating inimitable colouration. I adore the calming palette and the way this piece is instantly recognisable for its luminosity alone.

The Johnson Modular by MCM House

Did we see Charles Hinckfuss from MCM House becoming a modern Australian design icon? This new collection called Club Cabana captures the essence of laid-back luxury with new materials like brushed stainless steel and rich blue upholstery. The collection is another crowd pleaser with the Johnson modular sofa bringing effortless comfort and the Australian outdoor lifestyle attitude inside.

Puzzle Tiberio Coffee Table by Sten

Sten Galleria has launched just this year but their pieces crafted by artisans in Melbourne hit home in the right way. Using repurposed Italian Tiberio offcuts I love the simplicity of this tessellated coffee table that doesn’t feel like an imposition in a tight room but is just the right size for ones books and a coffee cup.

Blankets by Bemboka

Undeniably my greatest indulgence. With roots tracing back to a knitting factory in Australia that has been producing textile goods since the 60s, Bemboka (translates as high peak in local Indigenous language). The emphasis here is on luxury fibres – superfine merino, cashmere, pure cotton – all crafted with a sustainable mindset. The the angora and merino wool blankets earn their place on my bed all all year around but the cotton for summer months still feels as luxe. Always in the most classic tones, these are stealth luxury, or in other words The Row of the blanket world.

Modular shelving by Skupa

My habit of collecting books means I spend a lot of time thinking about bookshelves and I recently discovered Skupa for an easy modular system with metal shelves that feels on the right side of mid-century design inspiration. These are Australian designed and made and translate in a room as low key but give high quality, functional design.

The AirTable by Jigsaw House

Designed in Melbourne by two brothers this portable table reminds me of the vinyl card tables of my childhood that surely broke every design rule seemed to be assembled with ease at any given moment for an impromptu picnic or, as it would turn out, card game. This modern day equivalent (albeit considerably more chic in Yves Klein blue) is made from Japanese engineered foam and aluminium and rubber. It’s the pack-down table you won’t want to pack down.

Benvenuti Plate by Alex and Trahanas

While this lifestyle project from Alexandra Heard and Heleena Trahanas has been founded on bringing to life their love of Mediterranean summer it could be said that their plates are nowhere better suited than on the family style tables of Sydney-siders where the brand is based. I love the casual understated tone of these ceramic plates in chocolate.

December always brings our attention back to home. Between hosting, reorganising and settling into the slower days ahead, we’ve been thinking about the furniture and homewares we’re genuinely coveting this month. Across the team, a clear pattern emerges – pieces that feel useful, well-made and worth having in our spaces right now.

Elyssa Kostopoulos

Content Director

During my usual TikTok doomscroll, I came across my dream dining room situation (as pictured to the left above), and am now on the hunt to recreate in my own home. I already own a stainless steel side table in my living room, so bringing this material into my dining room feels natural. I discovered a miracle find on 1stDibs for these Chippensteeel 0.5 Chairs by Zieta, in polished stainless steel, which would be an absolute dream.

As for dining tables, MCM House’s new Club Cabana has so many options to choose from. I love the rectangular orientation of the Bossi Rectangular Dining Table and the detailing in the legs, but on the other hand, can’t get over the colour and intrigue of the Olay Round Dining Table. Decisions decisions.

Of course, there’s still decorations to consider, and while I haven’t found the perfect artwork yet (which might call for a weekend walking around the galleries very soon), I did find this Louise Roe vase, which I would pair with an iconic Dinosaur Designs Branch Bowl.

Mia Steiber

Digital Strategy Director & Associate Publisher

I have a fair few entertaining-at-home affairs planned over the summer. Thus, I’m making sure I’m prepared now so I’m not scrambling for tableware the days before. I really love the new ceramics at Saarde and I think this serving bowl is perfect for what I need this summer. I love the pattern. I always use tablecloths over placemats when I have people around and I would really love this Maison Balzac sunprint one or this elegant Cultiver one for Christmas (hopefully Santa reads this?).

I love this silverware set from Mesa Collections for serving. I’m down to my second last stick of this Aesop incense so I will top up, it’s my fourth box, I’m addicted.

And finally – not something I’m buying as I own them – people always ask where I got my favourite black candle sticks from. I bought mine years ago, but you can get almost identical ones from Net-a-Porter.

Stacey Gaskin

Consumer Revenue Manager

My mind has been on all things kitchen for homewares this month, which is hardly shocking, given hosting season. I was gifted this Fridays From The Garden cookbook by Flamingo Estate and I can genuinely say I haven’t been as excited by a cookbook like this in so long. This cookbook is my new favourite and I cannot wait to make my way through its recipes from now and into 2026.

This Lobster Platter and Hand Cake Server from Maison Balzac are in my cart (obsessed), and this French Flax Linen Ruffles Table Cloth from I Love Linen is a great base for holiday table scapes.

These Gohar World Off-White Dove Salad Servers are beautiful and are on my Christmas wishlist, along with Rachel Donath’s Grace Counter Stools. And I am very excited for some luxurious holiday refreshments, courtesy of TENUTA SANT’ANNA Prosecco Rosé DOC. Delicious.

Outdoor festivities are the best festivities in my opinion, especially in Australian summer. I have these Nanoleaf outdoor lights in the post, and will be hanging them in my backyard over my lawn – such a mood-setter for dinner parties.

Lastly, this Mesa Tray – Forest Brown Marble from RJ Living will be the new home for my keys. And I’m in need of a sofa bed that is chic and comfortable, so I’m looking at the Eva Slideaway Sofa Bed in Oatmeal. Love that the fabrication is 100% french linen.

Cassandra Dimitroff

Features and Production Editor

To My Shops Of The Gods Hand Soap – I recently visited Carnation Canteen in Fitzroy and they had this hand soap in the bathroom. I’m not exaggerating when I say it was the best thing I’ve ever smelled in my life.

My current (cheap) set of cutlery is finally on its last legs after serving me well across multiple share houses – I’m wondering if it’s time to finally invest in my dream set of flatware from Sabre’s Bistro collection? Right now my apartment smells like Santa Maria Novella’s Armenia Paper – the perfect home scent and what The Row burn in their boutiques, in case you were wondering.

And what home is complete without some vino to enjoy under its roof? Right now I’m eyeing off this ‘Taste the Symphony’ Gift Pack by HandPicked Wines.

Sophia Serafin

Implementation Manager

No doubt we’re all seeking a sense of calm in the most chaotic month of the year. I’m personally gravitating towards grounding colour palettes and little luxuries that soothe amidst the madness.

I’ll be ordering my favourite wine, Momento Mori from Winona Wines – and maybe picking up a few stocking-stuffers from their Objects selection. I’m also a big fan of Mecca coffee in Paddington, so am planning to integrate their beans into my daily ritual.

Lee Mathews has the sweetest gifting edit at the moment, and I’m planning to treat myself to a simple oak pepper mill and a new toothbrush while I’m there – instant elevation for the everyday.

A few more things I’m eyeing – a Tanchen stool for the living room, these frilly pillowcases, and a ceramic candle from the Provider Store (which you can have refilled or even turn into a mug, making it feel that little bit more special).

Alys Hale

Music Editor and Creative Producer

How much are we all looking forward to some much needed time at home? This year has been so huge and whilst I want to adventure across the coast I am so in need of a short staycation and giving my home a little love. I would love to get an outdoor dining table so I can dine alfresco on those long hot nights. I have some steel furniture so Fleur Studio’s SS-DIN03BR 100 could be the perfect addition, I tend to collect pieces when I see something I love, rather than invest in sets.

I also need to use the break to get organised and this Mustard Made Midi Locker would be great for hiding all the home office clutter that one needs but doesn’t want to see after 6pm. Byredo’s Bibliotechque is my forever home fragrance, and I would love to have one burning by the bookcases all summer.

My kitten and I have been in discussions. He is pushing that we get a sofa for him to luxuriate on, rather than just arm chairs. The Cameleonda came up. However, it will most likely be me finding something strange at Lawsons.

Aleks Beare

Brand Art Director

I love this time of year…summer and celebrations. With family and friends dropping by, there is always something to ‘cheers’ and I have my eye on these RIEDEL coupe glasses which are perfect for cocktails, and for celebrating with some Dom Pérignon.

These Citta beach towels retro vibe are going to look great with time spent by the pool. And speaking of retro vibes, I’m loving this Jojo lamp for the bedside. And it’s probably a good time to refresh my dog Gus’ bed, and this Henri dog bed looks perfect for summer snoozing.

Jaime Carmody

Digital Marketing Specialist

December always becomes the month of hosting (which I love!) and with hosting comes the inevitable urge to elevate my tablescape. These serving plates from Dinosaur Designs are my go to for entertaining or for a random ‘girl dinner’. I’m also loving these Fazeek coupes; they’re not only perfect for the festive season but year round hosting alike.

Lately I’ve been on the hunt for new lighting, and this chrome lamp feels like the perfect addition to my current style. I’m equally obsessed with this chrome coffee mug and this aluminium pepper mill. These tiny upgrades make the everyday feel more considered. I’ve also been intrigued by the idea of adding this cobalt blue rug to my living room. Honestly, the fact that it is machine washable is a serious bonus.

To round things out, I’ve been wanting to elevate my evening routine from a little luxury from Lesse- this towel and gua sha are the perfect additions to my bathroom.

Teklan and IKEA are reimagining home electronics with their latest collaboration https://www.russh.com/ikea-tekla-collection-details/ Tue, 25 Nov 2025 21:47:48 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=272115 Here's how to get your hands on it.

The post Teklan and IKEA are reimagining home electronics with their latest collaboration appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
Over the years, IKEA has brought us some of the most sought-after homewares, thanks to their collaborations with designers who shift the way we think about homewares. From Virgil Abloh’s elevated minimalism to Gustaf Westman’s bold colours and silhouettes, the Swedish furniture giant’s imagination knows no bounds. Now, they’re doing it again, this time partnering with colourist, photographer and designer Tekla Evelina Severin, known simply as Teklan, for a collection that reimagines technology as something worth showing off in your home, not hiding away.

Set to launch globally from December 2025, the line brings light, sound and colour into the same playful universe. Below, everything you need to know.

What’s in the collection?

The collaboration is about making electronics feel warm, expressive and personal — not an afterthought you’d tuck behind the couch or hide in a cupboard. Below, discover the full Teklan x IKEA collection.

SOLSKYDD Bluetooth Speakers

This is a family of three speakers designed in collaboration with IKEA designer Ola Wihlborg. Each piece plays with Teklan’s signature palette, geometric graphics and a sense of movement:

A small portable speaker in bright orange with a bold patterned frontA medium-sized version in green with diagonal striping in brown and beigeA large wall-mounted model in a textured orange finish, which can be paired with an accompanying screen

All can stand or hang, sync with other compatible IKEA speakers, and support Spotify Tap. Even when they’re switched off, they’re designed to act as art objects in your space.

KULGLASS Lamp Speakers

This is part lamp, part speaker. The silhouette is soft, rounded and almost cartoon-like, topped with a swirl-shaped shade inspired by soft-serve ice cream. Available in green and red-brown with pink, they’re designed to bring sound and warmth into the room at the same time.

FADO Table Lamp (Teklan edition)

A spotted take on IKEA’s classic globe-shaped lamp. The form is simple, but the surface design gives it a playful, optical twist.

When is the collection launching?

The Tekla x IKEA line begins rolling out globally in December 2025, with exact dates varying by region. As always, local IKEA stores will confirm availability closer to launch.

About the collaboration

Teklan’s ability to balance softness with structure is at the heart of this collection, using unexpected palettes and clean geometry to make technology feel friendlier. “Colour can completely shift how we see an object,” she says. “We wanted to bring that softness into tech, so people can invite more colour into the spaces they use every day.”

For IKEA, the collaboration is part of a broader rethink of home electronics. Rather than designing speakers to blend into the background, they’re approaching them with the same intentionality as furniture, encouraging people to treat light and sound as part of a room’s visual language.

Sundrenched in style: 12 beach umbrella brands to protect you from the Australian heat https://www.russh.com/beach-umbrellas/ Tue, 25 Nov 2025 05:30:17 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=141048 It'll feel like stepping into a Slim Aarons photograph.

The post Sundrenched in style: 12 beach umbrella brands to protect you from the Australian heat appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
You know as well as I do that the Australian heat packs a punch. And when it comes to trying to find a shady spot at the beach during the summer, the chances – unfortunately – are slim to none. Unlike the European coastlines lined with beach umbrellas and sunbeds, Australian beaches are still a BYO affair; which means that packing all the essentials is well, essential. And, if you’re planning on spending the day lapping up the sun and surf, it goes without saying that sun protection is vital. While the power of sunscreen should never go unnoticed, the reality is that our skin deserves a little more TLC. Your best friend? A beach umbrella.

Thankfully, the beach umbrella market has come a long way since the unreliable and less-than-stylish designs from our childhood – and truly, we are all better off for it. Arguably the trendiest beach accessory, the boho-inspired, gelato-reminiscent creations currently on offer are a hot commodity. With Australian’s taking sun protection more seriously than ever before, these 12 beach umbrella brands have become the stars of the beach scene. Find out all the details on why their umbrellas are some of the best, below.

1. Sunday Supply Co.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Sunday Supply Co. (@sundaysupply.co)

If you have been searching for a new beach umbrella for some time, you would have surely come across Australian brand, Sunday Supply Co. When the warm rays start to kick in, it’s almost impossible to spend a day at a beach down under without spotting one of the brand’s signature umbrellas. Each umbrella promises a a two metre radius of shade with an extendable timber pole, and is available in a range of colours made from UPF 50+ premium polyester. Beyond umbrellas, they’re also slinging cabanas, chairs, hats, towels, beach bags, and coolers – all in the same chic colour range. Basically, everything you could possibly need for a summer spent beachside.

2. Business & Pleasure Co.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Business & Pleasure Co. ® (@businessandpleasure_co)

When it comes to chic, fashionable beach umbrellas, Business & Pleasure Co. has nailed this business model down to a T. So much so, that it is virtually impossible to narrow your wishlist down to one style. The fact that the brand caters for all aesthetics – from white and minimal, to La Dolce Vita lemons is one of its biggest draw-cards. Beyond the visuals of course, is a sturdy, well-made, ergonomically-sound umbrella that proves that both form and function can co-exist. Every umbrella guarantees 98% blockout and UPF 50+; and is available in two different size dimensions to suit your needs. Business & Pleasure Co. also offer two larger styles: The Premium Beach Tent and The Premium Cabana. Both are perfect for a long beach day with friends or extended family.

3. Salty Shadows

There are so many reasons for purchasing an umbrella from New South Wales-based brand Salty Shadows. Not only is the brand known for its unique boho umbrella designs, but Salty Shadows is also passionate and committed to reducing its environmental footprint. Scrap material from umbrella offcuts are used to create handles on their umbrella bags, tote bags and beach clutches; and the brand specifically uses an aluminium frame because of its ability to be infinitely recycled. The brand’s umbrella is also extremely lightweight (2.5kg), while still offering 1.8m shade span.

4. Sunny Life

A post shared by SUNNYLiFE ~ Summer Essentials Since 2003 (@sunnylifeaustralia)

Sunny Life has long been a leader in beach accessories – from pool and beach floats to beach bags, chairs, and games – they have it all. It comes as no surprise then that Sunny Life’s beach umbrellas are worth considering. The colour range isn’t as expansive as other brands, but boy are they sturdy. Which is a must when the coastal breeze hits. The brand currently stocks two different styles, one with UPF 30+ and one with UPF 50+. Match it with one of Sunny Life’s beach chairs and you’re set for a day in the sun.

5. Basil Bangs

A Basil Bangs umbrella is like a Gelato-coloured trip to the Amalfi Coast. The brand’s founders design umbrellas for those among us who aren’t afraid of a little touch of colour in our beach lives, and truly, if there’s one place that you can get a little creative it’s with your beach accessories. As far as features are concerned, you’ll get UPF 50+ protection and a 170cm diameter canopy. Basil Bangs umbrellas are also weather proof, made from a water resistant outdoor canvas.

6. Land & Sand

If you’re on the hunt for a sustainable beach umbrella that doesn’t compromise on quality or style, look no further than Land & Sand. The brand’s umbrellas are made from recycled materials – the canopy from Repreve® Ocean Plastic and the frame from powder-coated aluminium foil. The umbrellas from Land & Sand offer UPF 50+ protection and a three-way tilt for all day protection.

7. ISSIMO Ombrellone Visconti

A post shared by Issimo (@issimo)

As far as luxury beach umbrellas go, ISSIMO takes the cake. Not only is this umbrella custom made by the Italian label, but it has also been designed to resemble the chic Mezzatore Hotel & Thermal Spa umbrellas on the island of Ischia. Iconic, to say the least. Though we definitely recommend handling this one with extra care. Not only are they hard to get your hands on, but they’re also a pretty penny. Totally worth it though for a taste of European summer.

8. Layday

A branch built around the beach, Layday hails from Western Australia and among its offering of towels and cooler bags are a slew of stylish umbrellas. It’s Coast Umbrellas are built in that nostalgic white-washed aesthetic, and are made from durable materials with a UPF 50+ protection canopy and carry-bag.

9. Fatboy

A Dutch label that built a reputation for its beanbags has designed the perfect umbrella for when you’re lounging poolside or on flat ground of any kind. It’s bright Pop-inspired Sunshady parasol is another that leans into nostalgia with its classic flaps and white trim. It’s straight out of a Slim Aarons photograph.

10. CoolCabanas

They’re not exactly umbrellas, but CoolCabanas definitely deliver on shade. In fact, these cleverly-designed beach tents offer 5.8 square meters of sun protection in the largest size, and can comfortably house the whole family for a day at the each. Function aside, the range has recently expanded to include a range of elevated colourways, courtesy of their Red Label arm. What more could you want?

We’re in a dream-state in November. Mia’s finally welcoming her dream Crafted couch, Kirsty’s adding a reformer to her wishlist, and Elyssa’s sketching out early plans for her apartment’s renovations. From sculptural serveware to statement sofas, our editors are leaning into pieces that make our homes feel considered and lived in.

With the holidays on the horizon, we’re also eyeing homewares that double as perfect gifts – discover more in our homewares Christmas gift guide. And if you’re after a little seasonal inspiration, read on to see what’s caught our editors’ attention this month.

Cassandra Dimitroff

Features and Production Editor

Some of my recent homewares saves include the Koala Torquay Modular Sofa in this gorgeous velvety cocoa hue. I’m also on the hunt for some multi-purpose silver coupees (these on Etsy look to be a solid option). I also walked past the MCM House showroom the other day and saw a table set up with their new Matcha Tollop Dining Chairs that look so comfortable and fun. Somehow I ripped open one of my pillowcases in the night and these cute Abbotson Linen Ticking Stripe Pillowcases from Sheridan might be a sweet replacement with a little bit of pattern.

Kirsty Thatcher

Digital Editor

I did a deep dive into the cobalt blue trend this week, and now I think I might have a new favourite colour on my hands. Naturally, I now need this rug by Cold Picnic in my life. Now that hosting season is underway, I’ve noticed a severe lack in my home’s stock of wine gasses. I really like the slightly eclectic feel of these ones by Akua Objects. And on a similar note, you can never have enough serveware in my opinion. This rosey cake stand by Dinosaur Designs would make the perfect centrepiece to a festive feast.

And last (but certainly not least), a reformer by Your Reformer has crept onto my wishlist. I can’t imagine anything dreamier than being able to roll out of bed and onto the reformer in the morning…

Mia Steiber

Digital Strategy Director & Associate Publisher

My new Crafted lounge arrives this month! I’m very excited. It also means my living room does need a tiny bit of restyling. I already have a cream Berber rug from a trip to Morocco a few years ago. I’ve had it waiting in storage. But I will need some new throw pillows. I know it’s more popular not to have pillows but I actually use them to lie on. I like these rusty-bronze ones from Hommey, but I also love these white ones from Cultiver. I’m still deciding. I think this Worn Store dark side table will complete the vibe and I want to wall mount this Merci Maison mirror just above it. Unrelated to the couch, I want some cute metal bowls for summer aperitivo hour. I love these ones from Country Road and these Service Projects ice cream cups.

Stacey Gaskin

Consumer Revenue Manager

I’ve been a loyal Nespresso machine user for years, but the itch to have my first Breville espressro machine might need to be scratched. The stainless Barista Pro™ is on my wishlist. I’ve been keen on an incence holder that catches all of the ash and found this Vessel Incense Holder – Chocolate from Gentle Habits. A great gift idea so I might need to buy two.

RJ Living have a Black Friday sale on now, so I’ve been scrolling for a side table or two and came across the Brooks Tall Side Table – Tide Pool Marble which would be perfect in my living room.

Lastly, holiday season dining is around the corner and I’ve been loving Same Time Tomorrow’s Christmas edit. I’ve always been a fan of bows in fashion and homewares so I might lean into it this year with this lovely Giant Satin Bow for decoration in my dining room and these black Napkin Rings. Stunning.

Elyssa Kostopoulos

Content Director

The renovation plans on my apartment will officially begin next year, and while I know my first priority should be knocking down walls and new flooring, I can’t help but be delightfully distracted by the fun part – decorating. My living, kitchen and dining will become one open space (hence the wall demolitions) and I want them all to speak to each other. I already have this amazing stainless steel side table from Fleur Studios, which I’m dreaming of pairing with the Cookie Green Travertine side table for a play on texture and colour. We’re also going to create breakfast corner which will also serve as our dining space (you have to be creative in small spaces). I originally thought I wanted a rectangular table for the length, but I came across the matching dining table to my stainless steel side table and I can’t look back.

I also am in desperate need of new appliances and as cooking is one of my favourite pastimes, I have to start with pots and pans. I have had so many friends recommend Our Place, so I’m going to start there. I have my eye on the cookware + bakeware bundle set in the ceramic – it’s perfect for every scenario.

Jaime Carmody

Digital Marketing Specialist

I absolutely love this bed base from Trit House. It’s beautifully simple and made of raw materials. For bedding, The SUKU Home pippa pattern is at the top of my wishlist at the moment and this steamer from The Iconic is the unsung hero of the home. It’s one of those small luxe additions that can make a huge difference to my morning routine. I love anything chrome and this speaker is small, sculptural and doubles as a design piece. This candle by Fazeek is the perfect balance between earthy and fresh. A World of Apartmento is the ultimate coffee table book that showcases creative homes around the world that are unstyled, personal and inspiring.

There are two scent driven staples from Aesop that I live by. The Aesop animal range; technically a gentle wash for my dog Jack, but I also love it for the subtle scent it brings to the bathroom. Aesop hand wash is an obvious choice. Woody, smoky and a little gritty.

Sophia Serafin

Implementation Manager

I’m on the hunt for elevated entertaining pieces ahead of the festive season as I love to host at home. So far I’ve had my eyes on a new cutlery set from French tableware brand Sabre, and these mouth-blown tumblers from The Conran Shop. This mother-of-pearl swan-shaped spoon is also in my cart – because why not?

When plating up or arranging florals, I gravitate towards pieces from Dinosaur Designs or Louise Roe – this pitcher is divine. And of course, can’t forget to stock up on Champagne to have on standby for special moments – my favourite is Ruinart Blanc de Blancs served in a RIEDEL coupe.

To unwind after all the socialising that comes with hosting, you’ll find me soaking in Baina’s apothecary bath milk and watching TV in my Missoni terry bath-robe – the highest cost-per-wear item in my wardrobe.

Alys Hale

Music Editor and Creative Producer

In a dream scenario, the bulk of the storage in my house would be USM Haller, in a custom cream colour they have yet to make for me. However, in lieu, their trolley is on my wishlist. Can you imagine having someone pull this up next to you with a martini on it on a Friday afternoon? Heaven. With summer on the way, I would love to upgrade my outdoor furniture on the terrace, and given it’s pink, some clashing red Thonet chairs could be fun. On red, how beautiful is this Petite Palm Rosa Lovanto by Fleur Studios? A girl can also dream about having their own woodfire oven for impromptu pizza parties and grill nights. In this month’s most coveted vases we have this gorgeous little pair by Justine Menard so hold a single, beautiful bloom and these pink goddesses by Akua Objects.

The planners and diaries to make the most out of 2026 https://www.russh.com/planners-and-diaries-for-the-new-year/ Fri, 07 Nov 2025 03:30:35 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=235804 2026 is knocking. Here are the planners and diaries to take with you to answer the door, prepared.

The start of a new year is a blank page. A fresh chapter, one waiting for you to fill with your stories, your plans, and your quiet moments of reflection.

If you ask me, there’s something ritualistic about setting pen to paper — the promise of productivity and creativity. And what better place for ideas to take root, where fleeting moments gain permanence, than a planner? With 2026 on the horizon, the question isn’t just what’s ahead but how you’ll approach it. And at RUSSH, it always starts with the right tools.

Planners and diaries are more than organisational tools; they’re extensions of ourselves. The colours we gravitate towards, the paper we prefer, the layouts we trust to keep us on track — all these elements say something about how we navigate time. Whether you’re someone who loves the precision of a daily schedule or the freedom of an open-ended notebook, the right planner can transform the chaos of modern life into something cathartic.

For 2026, the options are endless. Think minimalist designs that elevate your desk, tactile covers that feel like an extension of your hand, and thoughtful features that blend beauty with function. Some are made for dreaming, others for doing, and many for that sweet spot in between.

To help you find your perfect match, we’ve curated a selection of our favourite planners and diaries for the new year. Here’s to a new year, to the plans we make, and to the planners that make it possible. With a handful on sale for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it’s the perfect time to find the one that will carry you through the year that will be 2026.

Fashion has always been about more than what we wear – it’s a reflection of how we live. So it’s no surprise that the world’s most forward-thinking designers are turning their attention beyond the runway and into our living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms.

Homewares are becoming the new canvas for creative expression. It’s the art of making your home feel as intentional, curated, and expressive as the clothes on your back. From heritage houses to experimental newcomers, here’s our guide to our favourite interior lines from designers…

1. Marine Serre

Photographs courtesy Marine Serre Instagram.

Just dropped last week, Marine Serre debuted MARINE SERRE MAISON, a lifestyle capsule in collaboration with Faïencerie de Gien. It merges centuries-old ceramic craftsmanship with Serre’s iconic crescent moon emblem. It’s also crafted in the Loire Valley, honouring tradition while reimagining everyday objects.

2. JW Anderson

Photographs courtesy JW Anderson Instagram.

Anderson’s recent move to Dior has meant a reimagining of his eponymous label, which includes an indefinite runway hiatus and the inclusion of more homewares and lifestyle objects in the brand’s offerings. While most of these are yet to drop, we’re getting teasers already on Instagram – from gardening tools to mugs and tea towels.

3. Gucci

Photographs courtesy Gucci and Simon 171 of Gucci Décor apartement at Milan Design Week 2019.

Father, Sun, house of Gucci. Gucci Décor is a collection of furniture and decorative pieces with a tight focus on linen, candles and its iconic herbarium print. Anything velvet upholstered like this Chiavari chair is embossed with the brand iconography of stars and bees.

4. Hermès

Photographs courtesy Hermès website.

Hermès is a champion of clean silhouettes. And, well, of horses. With a core focus on quality of material, the collection of house and home features porcelain fixtures and saddle-stitched leather in their Équilibre d’Hermès section of armchairs, tables and more.

5. Ralph Lauren

The house of Ralph Lauren knows its branding. With a penchant for the preppy, we have decanters named Ashton that accompany dice cup sets and throw blankets in deep navy. And what is Ralph without the bear? Get your fix of furry-chic on napkins, rugs and more.

6. Prada

Photograph courtesy Prada.

The Prada pickings are a mix of tea sets, logo cushions and glassware for your next soirée. For those conveniently located in Italy, there’s a chance to try before you buy. The Prada Caffe offers a bespoke mint-green experience serving pastries, coffee and more on its iconic fine china.

7. Versace

Photographs courtesy Versace.

It’s not gauche if its Versace. An atypical blend of baroque, high-camp and the Venusian, we’ve got tableware, glasses, and everything in between all stamped with the Medusa’s head in champagne and bronze. Their haute collection is opulent, but not overdone.

8. Fendi

For an Italian brand that is less full-bodied, we recommend Fendi Casa. Elegant and classic silhouettes converge with state-of-the-art furniture inspired by the House’s own greco-roman roots. Think plinths and pillars in the 21st century, pared back with a modern sensibility. We particularly adore the Annabelle armchairs.

9. Dior

Photographs courtesy Dior.

The great Christian Dior: “Living in a house which doesn’t reflect who you are is like wearing someone else’s clothes.” The throughline of Maison Dior is botanical motifs that twine through place mats, candle holders and even ambitiously, hand-painted water glasses. Its home collection is titled as an ode to beauty, and isn’t it just so.

10. Burberry

Photographs courtesy Burberry.

Cashmere throws and hot water bottle covers in houndstooth and checkered print. The snugness of the line comes from its own domestic inflections: don’t forget Daniel Lee’s 2023 Holiday Collection. With the hallmark of the cosy, be sure to stock up on side accessories before Oceanic winter swoops in.

11. Missoni

All the hallmarks of Missoni’s fashion label – including their iconic chevron – are transposed perfectly to their homewars line. The line is pretty fleshed out too – encompassing cushions, throws, bedding, towels, bathrobes, and even furniture, all reflecting the brand’s distinctive aesthetic.

12. SUNNEI

SUNNEI and cc-tapis transformed their iconic Milan Fashion Week FW24 runway rug into a playful, eco-conscious collection of seven vibrant pieces made with recycled Nylon yarn. Merging bold color, whimsical motifs, and Italian craftsmanship, the limited-edition rugs are now available online, celebrating creative collaboration and sustainable design.
