Ahh, Australian Fashion Week<\/a>. The time has come once again, for us to head on down to Carriageworks and peruse the latest and greatest creative offerings from top notch fashion designers of the moment. Across the five days from May 12-16 \u2013 we will be seen running from show to show, snacks in hand; dumping our belongings into our Content Director, Elyssa’s car (a real one, thanks girl) and doing the utmost to be one with the chaos of it all.<\/p>\n

You may wonder what the RUSSH<\/em> team has on hand for such a fabulous and frantic week. Well, we do have our list of essentials and we’re here to share. Scroll on to find a thoughtful selection of items of necessity, from nutritious and delicious snacks on the go, to what we’ll be wearing in fashion and beauty must haves \u2013 it’s a fashion parade we’re ready for.<\/p>\n

This Australian Fashion Week, I am digging deep into my wardrobe to put together looks that include all of my favourite pieces. I am almost most comfortable when I feel entirely like myself rather than fussing over new outfits. I picked up a new cardigan from <\/span>Friends With Frank in this gorgeous sage colour<\/span><\/a>. It is now sadly sold out but the brand has plenty of other knitwear to fall in love with if you\u2019re in the market. I inevitably always wear a Canadian tuxedo (aka, double-denim) on one of the days, and this <\/span>overshirt from WNSDY<\/span><\/a> paired with a pair of trusty denim and my <\/span>new Tony Bianco slingbacks<\/span><\/a> I got on sale.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for accessories, I\u2019ll be sporting the <\/span>new Tissot PRX 25mm<\/span><\/a> \u2013 which is not only a stylish new addition to my watch collection, but will be a great help for someone who is bad with time management. Sunglasses are a must, especially towards the backend of the week when the eye bags start to come through \u2013 I\u2019ll be heavily rotating between this <\/span>Bottega Veneta shield pair <\/span><\/a>and my <\/span>old faithful Gentle Monsters<\/span><\/a> that go with every outfit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Protein bars are a handbag staple and I will continue the tradition of stocking a lolly jar in my car \u2013 for emergencies only, obviously.<\/span><\/p>\n

As always, starting off strong with my <\/span>Fisherman Friends mints<\/span><\/a>. A non-negotiable at any day of the week. I will be needing some basic pieces to keep me warm and style with, so I have opted in getting a beautiful cashmere from <\/span>Commonplaces<\/span><\/a>. I also recently got a new film camera which I will bring with me, as my other one sadly broke, but this one is actually much cooler, a Canon Datelux A35. I will also be bringing my lip combo \u2013 from MAC, my lip liner in whirl<\/a>, and my lip balm from <\/span>Glossier in Peppermint<\/span><\/a>. And I will be stocking up on my <\/span>Kiehl Cleanser<\/span><\/a>, as it will be a big week of makeup, I can assume!<\/span><\/p>\n

Counting on a few timeless pieces to get me through the week. A Harris Tapper\u00a0Blazer<\/a> elevates any look, while Patrick Johnson\u2019s <\/span>cashmere cardigan<\/span><\/a> is perfect for layering on crisp mornings and cool evenings. A watch is a must-have for staying on schedule, and this <\/span>Cartier timepiece<\/span><\/a> has been on my wishlist for a very long time. Bottega\u2019s <\/span>Lauren Clutch<\/span><\/a> is the perfect size for my show essentials, I love this one paired back with a white t-shirt, classic denim and a chic <\/span>kitten heel<\/span><\/a> (These Nelson Made ones hit the spot). Understated jewellery is the finishing touch to any look, and I love these <\/span>fine pieces <\/span><\/a>from <\/span>Temple of the Sun<\/span><\/a>. Last, but not least, a water bottle to stay hydrated on the go. I love this limited toffee colour by <\/span>Frank Green<\/span><\/a> – practicality that doesn\u2019t compromise on style.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I think the best kind of look is a practical look. So my fashion week essentials will be all about pragmatism. My collection of <\/span>St Agni blazers<\/span><\/a> are being pulled to the front of my closet. They are so comfortable but they immediately upscale any outfit. I have <\/span>a huge tote from Kinnon<\/span><\/a> that will be essential to carrying all my gear and my beauty touch-up bag. In the bag will be my laptop, <\/span>a Jurlique rose mist mini<\/span><\/a> for refreshing, <\/span>my DMK sunscreen<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>my Sisley mascara<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>my Glossier Stretch concealer<\/span><\/a>. I have <\/span>a memo water bottle<\/span><\/a> which is coming with me because it\u2019s streamlined and <\/span>a packet of pumpkin seed bites<\/span><\/a> to refuel. And, I\u2019ll likely live in <\/span>my Hermes loafers<\/span><\/a>. They\u2019re my favourite (and most comfortable) shoe right now.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is my third AFW \u2013 and third time\u2019s a charm right? I think I learned plenty of lessons from the chaos of last year\u2019s schedule that I\u2019m ready to apply this year. First and foremost: a portable iPhone charger is a must. I like the cart around my<\/span> July Power Bank<\/span><\/a> since it can charge my phone and laptop simultaneously. I\u2019ve become attached to my<\/span> Aesop Resurrection Rinse-Free Hand Mist<\/span><\/a> (basically a hand sanitiser that actually smells nice that you can spray on). Of course, I\u2019m never without a lip product \u2013 these days it\u2019s my<\/span> LESSE Soothing Lip Balm<\/span><\/a> and<\/span> MECCA MAX Pout Pencil in Classy<\/span><\/a> (the BEST colour). And finally \u2013 a fragrance to touch up with. I\u2019m loving<\/span> TSU LANGE YOR\u2019s By My Side<\/span><\/a> at the moment. But also<\/span> Diptyque\u2019s Philosykos<\/span><\/a>, a travel size of which I tote around with me.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fashion week is always a wild ride so I like to keep my looks simple but chic. I\u2019m into tailoring, and adore this <\/span>Harris Tapper jacket<\/span><\/a>. Also, very weather appropriate. On that note, I refuse to wear uncomfortable shoes. Hobbling from blisters isn\u2019t a good look, plus I\u2019m always jogging due to poor time management skills (oops). I will probably rely on my <\/span>Saint Laurent loafers<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Chanel ballet flats<\/span><\/a> and a great boot. I\u2019m in the market for something new, and I love the shape of <\/span>these<\/span><\/a> from Alias Mae. Also, I noticed <\/span>these cute thongs<\/span><\/a> \u2014 perfect to keep in the car for emergencies or give any outfit and Olsen twin edge?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Other essentials include a mini lint roller, crazy-strong mints, my <\/span>Crown Affair comb<\/span><\/a>, lip balm (trust me when I say <\/span>Dermal Therapy<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Lanolips<\/span><\/a> are the way to go) and fragrance. Right now, I am deeply obsessed with <\/span>Hermes Barenia<\/span><\/a>. It would be remiss of me to not include snacks, as well. Plenty of espresso, green juice, pasta and <\/span>Krumbled Beauty Bites<\/span><\/a> for me\u2026\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I think great outerwear is a fail-safe way to always look chic at AFW, while also preparing yourself for Sydney\u2019s unpredictable weather. I\u2019m loving the Friends With Frank <\/span>Clemence Blazer Coat<\/span><\/a>, and Harris Tapper <\/span>Tillmans Blazer<\/span><\/a> in bone. When it comes to shoes, I try not to overthink it \u2013 comfort is key. My<\/span> Assembly Label loafers<\/span><\/a> will no doubt be the MVP of the week, and a great pair of boots is an easy way to dress up a look. I like <\/span>these ones<\/span><\/a> by Alias Mae.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I also wouldn\u2019t survive the week without a big bag (this <\/span>Liffner bucket bag<\/span><\/a> is my favourite right now) stocked with all the essentials: <\/span>Merit Beauty Flush Balm in \u2018postmodern\u2019<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Hourglass mascara<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>MAC lip liner in whirl<\/span><\/a>, and as much <\/span>Lanolips<\/span><\/a> as I can get my hands on.<\/span><\/p>\n

Have you ever wondered what makes the cool girls cool, even when they\u2019re wearing a seemingly boring outfit? It\u2019s all in the small details – or at least that\u2019s what I\u2019m telling myself to minimize the pre-fashion week outfit stress.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

First up, jewellery and I\u2019ll be mixing and matching my collection of rings from <\/span>Argent Silversmith<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Millie Savage<\/span><\/a>, and a couple of smaller pieces from <\/span>Mejuri<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Kirstin Ash<\/span><\/a>. More is more when it comes to rings if you ask me. Add to this some <\/span>dark sunglasses to hide the lack of sleep<\/span><\/a> and my go to <\/span>MAC deep red lipstick<\/span><\/a> (perfect for dressing up an outfit and adding some personality) and I immediately feel more put together.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite not being able to fit my laptop, my <\/span>Acne Studios Musubi bag<\/span><\/a> comes with me everywhere, and Fashion Week is no exception. Mostly because it fits my<\/span> favourite powerbank<\/span><\/a> (which has multiple built in charging cords), a<\/span>\u00a0takeaway coffee cup<\/span><\/a>, and all the aforementioned essentials.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last but not least, socks (unexpected, I know). If you\u2019ve ever been to Carriageworks you\u2019ll know it can get chilly in there, and my ankles don\u2019t always do well. No matter what shoes I\u2019m wearing they need to be covered. <\/span>Paire are my go-tos<\/span><\/a> – super soft and thin enough to fit in any shoe.<\/span><\/p>\n
